Fayetteville Youth Soccer to host skills academy this fall

Fayetteville Parks and Recreation will host a six-week skills clinic this fall in lieu of a tradition soccer season, officials announced on Wednesday.

According to a press release, the decision is based on directives set in place by the Arkansas Department of Health.

The clinics will be offered at the same night and team each week, and broken into age groups of 5-8, 9-12, and 13-16 years of age.

From the announcement:

The fall Soccer Skills Clinic is designed for any player who wants to continue practicing their soccer skills. Our coaches are excited to help players improve their technique, learn game tactics, develop teamwork skills and share their love for the game in a fun and encouraging environment. The skills clinic will offer a low participant to instructor ratio meaning space will be limited. Each participant should only register for one session.

Families who registered for soccer for the ultimately cancelled spring season can use a credit applied to their online account to enroll in the soccer skills clinic by selecting “pay with user credit” on the checkout screen.

Registration is open Aug. 12-Sept. 4, and the season runs from Sept. 14-Oct. 24. Each clinic is 45 minutes, and focuses on ball handling and other skills. The $50 registration fee comes with a t-shirt and a medal.
