Large-scale performances are still suspended, but patrons of the Walton Arts Center and the Walmart AMP will soon have an opportunity to visit the venues.

WAC officials this week announced plans for a new Saturday Cinema series.

The series kicks off on Saturday, Sept. 12 with a 2 p.m. showing of Blinded by the Light and a 7 p.m. showing of Kinky Boots at Walton Arts Center.

On Saturday, Sept. 19, the Walmart AMP will host a screening of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19 (which, as it happens, is International Talk Like a Pirate Day).

If all goes well, additional titles could also be announced at a later date.

Both venues have implemented additional safety precautions to protect patrons and staff. Masks are required, and physical distancing measures will also be in place.
