It’s time for the annual tree giveaway in Fayetteville.

Free trees and shrubs will be available for Fayetteville residents on Saturday, Oct. 24 at the 22nd annual Celebration of Trees event at the Spring Street Parking Deck on the corner of Spring Street and School Avenue.

This year’s event begins at 7 a.m. with a drive-thru-style giveaway to help maintain proper social distance. Participants should wear face coverings and be prepared to show proof of their city residency.

Mayor Lioneld Jordan, along with staff from the Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Department and members of the Urban Forestry Advisory Board, will hand out up to two plants per resident.

Species available this year include (click for info) Arrowood Viburnum, Beauty Berry, Button Bush, Catalpa Tree, Fringe Tree, Inkberry Holly, Paw Paw, Pecan, Shingle Oak and Willow Oak.

Trees and shrubs are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
