Case update: Arkansas coronavirus cases increase by 1,072 Thursday


The number of new confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases in Arkansas increased by 1,072 on Thursday.

Of those, 837 were confirmed from PCR testing, and 235 cases are considered probable after detection by antigen testing.

Hospitalizations in the state increased yesterday by 4, bringing the total number of Arkansans currently hospitalized to 666.

There were 19 additional deaths, bringing the toll to 1,894.

There are currently 9,466 cases of COVID-19 considered active in the state, which includes those that have tested positive by both PCR and antigen testing methods. There are 98,340 inactive cases.

The state reported 10,906 new PCR tests on Thursday, along with 1,241 new antigen tests.

The state has reached 109,712 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

The top counties for new cases announced Thursday were Garland (108), Pulaski (95), Washington (90), Benton (76), and Craighead (52).
