Case update: COVID-19 cases increase by 2,312 Friday


The number of new confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases in Arkansas increased by 2,312 on Friday, the largest single-day increase since the pandemic began.

Of the new cases added today, 290 are located in Benton (148) and Washington (142) counties.

Hospitalizations in the state increased by 21, bringing the total number of Arkansans hospitalized to 826, with 76 of those individuals located in Northwest Arkansas hospitals.

There were four additional deaths reported Friday, bringing the toll to 2,148.

There are currently 15,773 cases of COVID-19 considered active in the state, which includes those that have tested positive by both PCR and antigen testing methods. This is also a record high.

The state reported 12,990 new PCR tests on Friday, along with 3,013 new antigen tests.

The state has reached 130,318 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

The top counties for new cases announced Friday were Pulaski (213), Benton (148), Washington (142), Craighead (128) and Sebastian (120).
