Case update: Arkansas COVID-19 cases increase by 2,327 Wednesday


The number of new confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases in Arkansas increased by 2,327 on Wednesday.

Of the new cases added today, 136 are from Washington County and 165 come from Benton County.

Hospitalizations decreased by 17 on Wednesday to 1,064.

There are 179 Arkansans on ventilators, down three from Tuesday.

The state announced 34 new deaths as a result of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the toll in the state to 2,786 since the pandemic began.

There are currently 18,765 cases of COVID-19 considered active in the state, which includes those that have tested positive by both PCR and antigen testing methods.

The state reported 10,806 new PCR tests on Wednesday, along with 3,270 new antigen tests.

The new cases bring the total cumulative count in Arkansas to 176,652 since the pandemic began.

The top counties for new cases announced Wednesday were Pulaski (276), Benton (165), Washington (136), Craighead (125) and Garland (89).
