Case update: Arkansas active COVID-19 cases reach 20,706, state announces 55 deaths

The number of new confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases in Arkansas increased by 2,770 on Friday.

Of the new cases added today, 248 are from Washington County and 205 come from Benton County.

Hospitalizations decreased by 54 on Friday to 1,059.

There are 185 Arkansans on ventilators, up four from Thursday.

The state announced a record 55 new deaths as a result of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the toll in the state to 2,875 since the pandemic began.

There are currently a record 20,706 cases of COVID-19 considered active in the state, which includes those that have tested positive by both PCR and antigen testing methods.

The state reported 15,516 new PCR tests on Friday, along with 3,537 new antigen tests.

The new cases bring the total cumulative count in Arkansas to 181,624 since the pandemic began.

The top counties for new cases announced Friday were Pulaski (297), Washington (248), Benton (205), Faulkner (128) and Saline (127).
