Fayetteville Public Schools to offer free meal packs during winter break

  • By Dustin Bartholomew · Tuesday, Dec 15, 2020

Fayetteville Public Schools Child Nutrition will offer free meal packs during the holiday break coming up.

The five-day meal packs will include five breakfasts and five lunches, and will be available for pick up from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 22 on Tuesday, Dec. 29 at Fayetteville High School (944 W. MLK Blvd.).

Enter from Buchanan Street to pick up the meal packs. A face mask is required when picking up meals, officials said.

“I am very pleased that we can once again help meet the needs of our community during the winter break,” said FPS Superintendent Dr. John L Colbert. “We know that some of our students don’t always have access to healthy meals during the break, and we hope this meets that need and helps them to eat more nutritious meals.”

Similar to the school district’s summer meal program, the nutritious meal packs are free to anyone age 18 or younger regardless of whether or not they are students in the district, according to Ally Mrachek, Director of Child Nutrition for Fayetteville Public Schools.

Meal packs for Fayetteville Public School students can be pre-ordered online at www.myschoolbucks.com. Non-Fayetteville Public Schools families should call 479-305-0023 to order meal packs.

The schools in the district will be closed Dec. 21-Jan. 1 for winter break.
