Case update: Arkansas COVID-19 cases increase by 2,893 Wednesday


The Arkansas Department of Health announced that COVID-19 cases in Arkansas increased by 2,893 on Wednesday.

The state announced 38 new deaths as a result of COVID-19, bringing the toll in the state to 3,376 since the pandemic began.

Of the new cases added Wednesday, 272 are from Washington County and 260 come from Benton County.

Hospitalizations increased by 7 on Wednesday, bringing the total number of Arkansans hospitalized with the virus to 1,110.

There are 174 Arkansans on ventilators, up 1 from Tuesday.

There are currently 22,516 cases of COVID-19 considered active in the state, which includes those that have tested positive by both PCR and antigen testing methods.

The state reported 8,604 new PCR tests on Wednesday, along with 3,697 new antigen tests.

The new cases bring the total cumulative count in Arkansas to 207,941 since the pandemic began.

The top counties for new cases announced Wednesday were Washington (272) Pulaski (265), Benton (160), Faulkner (123) and Craighead (109).
