Case update: Arkansas COVID-19 hospitalizations reach new record high Monday


The Arkansas Department of Health announced that COVID-19 cases in Arkansas increased by 1,651 on Monday.

The state announced 55 new deaths as a result of COVID-19, bringing the toll in the state to 3,537 since the pandemic began.

Of the new cases added Monday, 131 are from Washington County and 139 come from Benton County.

Hospitalizations increased by 62 on Monday, bringing the total number of Arkansans hospitalized with the virus to a record high of 1,155.

There are 201 Arkansans on ventilators, up 15 from Sunday.

There are currently 20,831 cases of COVID-19 considered active in the state, which includes those that have tested positive by both PCR and antigen testing methods.

The state reported 4,382 new PCR tests on Monday, along with 2,272 new antigen tests.

The new cases bring the total cumulative count in Arkansas to 216,528 since the pandemic began.

The top counties for new cases announced Wednesday were Pulaski (266), Benton (139), Washington (131), Faulkner (110) and Saline (91).
