Bundle up and get ready to hit the trails, Fayetteville. The annual Frozen Toes 5K and 15K trail runs are coming up.

This year’s run, organized by the Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Department, is set for Saturday, Jan. 23 at Kessler Mountain Regional Park.

The soft-surface trail run will offer a staggered-start, physically-distaced in person option, along with an alternative option allowing participants to complete the run on their own between Jan. 24 and Jan. 31.

The race will start and end at Kessler Mountain Regional Park, and each runner will be assigned a starting time in advance of the race. Start waves will consist of no more than 20 runners, and will take place at intervals between 9 and 10 a.m. Runners should plan to carry their own water and nutrition, as no aid stations will be available on race day. The in-person option will be limited to just 200 participants.

Trail users should be aware that the trail system on Kessler Mountain will be closed to the public for the race on Saturday, January 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The trails will re-open for public use after the race.

Awards will be given for male and female finishers in various age groups.

Registration is $30, and includes a goody bag with socks, medals, and downloadable race photos.
