Plomo Quesadillas, a restaurant famous amongst the college student crowd, is expanding their hours of operation to be open 7 days a week. Starting February 1st, guests can enjoy Plomo Quesadillas from 11AM – 10PM Sunday through Wednesday and 11AM – 3AM Thursday through Saturday
Originally a “ghost kitchen” concept, Plomo started in the back of another restaurant founder Omar Kasim operated, Juice Palm. Shortly after opening, the quesadilla concept quickly grew in popularity amongst the college crowd due to their late-night hours and eclectic food. The menu offers more than Mexican-inspired flavors; chopped brisket and waffle-coated chicken breast quesadillas are just some of the unique options offered. The restaurant also features different monthly specials such as BBQ mac & cheese and buffalo chicken ranch quesadillas.
“We have a lot of fun putting a twist on a food that is usually very simple,” said founder Omar Kasim. “Reinventing the quesadilla and providing college students with food that’s chef-driven, fast, and affordable has allowed us to develop a cult-like following.” For Kasim, serving college students unique food is something he is not a stranger to; he is also the owner of Con Quesos on MLK, a concept he created after graduating from the University of Arkansas in 2015.
Plomo Quesadillas is located on 644 W Dickson St, adjacent to Underwood Jewelers. Guests can dine in or take their quesadillas to-go with their “dilla holders”. Online ordering and delivery options are also available. Each quesadilla comes with four slices, a choice of specialty crema sauce, and is topped with pico de gallo. Plomo enthusiasts will highly recommend that you make your quesadilla “Dirty.”
“If you know, you know,” says Kasim. “Even if you don’t, you should still Make it Dirty. You’ll understand once you bite into the ‘dilla.”
