Local sculptor finishes new addition to Wilson Park castle

One of the most beloved spots in Fayetteville keeps getting better.

That’s because Seven Points, otherwise known locally as the Castle at Wilson Park, continues to receive new features created by local sculptor, Eugene Sargent.

Sargent’s latest creation is a couple of roughly 12-foot-long “greensakes in love” located just to the south of the castle. The intertwined snakes are holding a sign telling the updated story of the castle.

Sargent has created several sculptures around the castle over the years, including a skink designed to adorned and reinforce a crumbling part of the castle last year, and an earthworm on the south end of the structure, among others.

According to a Facebook post by the artist, he interrupted another project to create the snakes for the parks department.
