The Fayetteville Parks and Recreation division will host its fifth annual women’s-only duathlon on Saturday, June 12.

The Ladies DU Fayetteville race is open to women of all ages and is the only duathlon in the state currently dedicated to female athletes. This year’s in-person race will have some modifications to ensure safety for participants and staff, according to a news release. A virtual race will also be offered.

The event features a 2-mile run, an 11-mile bicycle ride and a 2-mile run, and will take place at Lake Fayetteville on the paved trails around and near the lake. Participants can compete individually or as a two-person relay team where one woman runs and the other rides a bike.

Virtual race participants may choose their own course, race anytime between June 12-27, and submit their times to verify completion. A six-week small-group training program is also offered. The training program group will meet once a week and participants will also get entry into the race or virtual race.

Online registration is available at www.fayetteville-ar.gov/recsignup. The cost is $50 for individuals, $90 for relay teams, or $95 for the training program. All registrations include a technical sleeveless top and a finisher medal. Event photo downloads will be provided after the event at no charge.
