Weekend Flyer: Dixie’s Happy Hour, Hog sports, Thanks for Nothing, and more

  • By Dustin Bartholomew · Friday, Mar 5, 2021

It’s Friday again. How many of you guys saw that coming?

How about some music this weekend. George’s has a few shows, including Snap Back and #JustLove for happy hour on Friday night. On Saturday, locals The Juice will perform along with the return of locals, Thanks for Nothing.

Also in tunes, Walton Arts Center’s free Atrium Series of shows continues Saturday with ‘A Song in the Night’ Gospel Trio. It’s free, and beverages will be served.

There are some good virtual shows to check out as well. Dixie’s Happy Hour is playing for one more weekend at Walton Arts Center. The show features Dixie, the cocktail swilling southern belle drag persona of performer Kris Andersson, and you can pick up a cocktail kit at Dickson Street Liquor to mix and drink along with Dixie during the show. Here’s a review with more info.

TheatreSquared is also streaming their acclaimed shows, School Girls, and The Half-Life of Marie Curie, this weekend. Better check them out soon, though, as both runs are winding down in advance of the theatre possibly returning to some in-person performances next month.

You want sports? Ok. The Hog baseball team takes on Murray State in a weekend series at Baum-Walker this weekend, the men’s basketball team takes on Texas A&M on Saturday at Bud Walton, and the softball team is in action versus Kansas in the Woo Pig Classic at Bogle Park Saturday.
