If you’re one of the Arkansans newly declared eligible for a COVID-19 shot today, or if you’ve been eligible and haven’t found an appointment yet, a new website announced from Washington Regional might help.

Hospital officials today unveiled an online scheduling tool that allows locals eligible for a vaccine to self-schedule an appointment to receive a vaccination. The new site is the same one we noticed and wrote about last Friday.

Those currently eligible for a vaccination in Arkansas as of today include individuals 65 years of age and older, workers in food manufacturing, and workers in education including higher education, K-12, and daycare. In addition, Gov. Asa Hutchinson added essential workers in a variety of industries including food and agriculture, grocery stores, meal delivery, postal service/package delivery, public transit, government workers, houses of worship, along with those with disabilities as new groups now eligible for the vaccine.

According to the announcement issued today, Washington Regional will require verification of age and/or employment at the time of appointment.

Supply of the vaccine is still limited, officials warned.

“The number of appointments available will correspond with the number of first dose vaccines we will receive each week from ADH,” said Washington Regional Vice President of Clinic Operations Paula Storment. “We typically learn the number of doses a few days before arrival. As we are notified, we will open the same number of appointments to ensure all vaccine is distributed promptly upon arrival.

“We expect appointments to fill up quickly as demand for the vaccine still exceeds supply. If you check the website and no appointments are available, we ask that you check backat a later time.”

As of Monday afternoon, there were plenty of appointments available to sign up for beginning as early as Wednesday of this week.

Vaccines are administered by appointment at Washington Regional’s drive-thru vaccination site at the corner of North Gregg Avenue and West Appleby Road in Fayetteville.
