Spring is here, and that means its almost time for the bi-annual Square to Square bike ride.

The spring ride, organized by Fayetteville Parks and Rec in coordination with Bentonville Parks & Recreation, will depart from Fayetteville and make its way up to Bentonville on Saturday, May 1.

Some of the in-person festivities, aid stations, and other festivities that have typically been part of the Square to Square ride will be suspended this spring due to COVID-19, but as they (probably) say in the bike riding business, “The ride must go on.”

The May 1 ride will depart from Fayetteville beginning at 7 a.m., though you can leave when you’d like and ride at your own pace.

There’s also a virtual ride options, which allows you to complete the ride any time between May 2-31.

The full Square to Square route is about 30 miles, but the virtual ride also offers a 15 mile option.

“Our S2S vision is to enable you to enjoy the 15 or 30 mile journey on the Razorback Greenway on your own, following physical distancing guidelines, carrying hand sanitizer, and keeping safety a priority,” the website says.

Registration options include kids rides, “family packs,” and bundles with the fall ride that starts in Bentonville and makes its way down to Fayetteville.
