Two groups have partnered to offer free pet microchipping in Washington County on Saturday, March 27 and Sunday, March 28.

Best Friends Animal Society in Northwest Arkansas is working with the Washington County Animal Shelter for the event, which is scheduled from 1-3 p.m. each day at the shelter, located at 801 W. Clydesdale Ave. in Fayetteville.

The event will be drive-thru style with vets placing microchips through car windows, so owners don’t have to get out. Custom ID tags are also free with a donation to Best Friends while supplies last.

There is a maximum of three free microchips per pet owner. Additional microchips are $10 cash per pet, with a maximum of six total microchips per pet owner.

Registration is required and available online at bestfriends.org/FayettevillePetID to sign-up.

The event is weather-permitting, and will only take place if the temperature is at least 40 degrees, according to a news release.
