Earth Day is coming up April 22, and the city of Fayetteville’s Parks & Rec department is planning a series of litter clean ups around the community to commemorate the occasion.

The clean ups will kick off with a drive-thru Earth Day Giveaway event set for 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, April 17 at Fayetteville Parks & Recreation Parking Lot. The first 50 participants to arrive will receive a free litter grabber, two t-shirts, gloves, and bags. The next 125 participants will receive the t-shirts, gloves and bags.

After that, the clean up events will begin on Saturday, April 19 and will run through the 22nd. Clean ups are scheduled at 15th Street, Lake Wilson, Crossover Road, and Lake Sequoyah. The schedule and check in locations are listed below.

No sign-ups are required for the clean up. Participants will pledge to use their supplies “to do a socially-distanced, self-guided clean up in the community,” officials said.
