Pride month events planned in Northwest Arkansas

June is Pride month, and as always, several events are planned across Northwest Arkansas to celebrate LGBTQ voices and experiences, and to raise awareness about issues the community still faces.

Here’s a list of events as scheduled by Northwest Arkansas Equality:


North Forest concert with Dazz & Brie and True Lions

When: Saturday, June 12 at 7 p.m.
Where: Crystal Bridges, 600 Museum Way, Bentonville
What:The North Forest Concert Series at Crystal Bridges will celebrate Pride with live music from Dazz & Brie and True Lions. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and enjoy the music under the forest trees. A food truck and cash bar will be available throughout the night, as well as art-making activities.

Ozarks Drag Brunch: Advocacy & Allies

When: Sunday, June 20 at 12 p.m.
Where: Fayetteville Town Center, 15 W. Mountain Street, Fayetteville
What: Brunch, booze and Arkansas drag, celebrating of the allies and advocates who have supported and shaped the local LGBTQ community. Tickets include entry to the show and a brunch buffet for four people. Includes a cash bar with bloody Marys and mimosas.

NWA Trans March

When: Thursday, June 24 at 7 p.m.
Where: Downtown Fayetteville
What: A protest for the rights of transgender and gender non-conforming Arkansans. March travels east on Dickson Street, turns south on Block Street, and heads to the Fayetteville Town Center for an outdoor rally.

Out in the Ozarks w/ Matteo Lane

When: Friday, June 25 at 8 p.m.
Where: Fayetteville Town Center, 15 W. Mountain Street, Fayetteville
What: Matteo Lane is an openly gay New York-based comedian whose stand-up special can be seen on Netflix’s “The Comedy Lineup.” Matteo has also performed “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” and several other popular shows. Tickets are for single table blocks of four.

17th annual NWA Pride Parade

When: Saturday, June 26 at 12 p.m.
Where: Dickson Street, Fayetteville
What: This year’s parade will honor AIDS activist Ruth Coker Burks, along with Washington County Justice of the Peace Evelyn Rios Stafford, the first openly trans person elected to office in Arkansas. The parade will also be streamed online via Facebook and later broadcast on YouTube.

Pronouns Trans Art Exhibit

When: Through June 30
Where: Fenix Gallery at Mount Sequoyah’s Millar Lodge, 150 N. Skyline Drive, Fayetteville
What: Curated by Pat Hennon and NWA Equality board member Jewel Hayes, the Pronouns exhibit features artwork from local trans artists. The exhibit is open until the end of June.
