New mural up at future TJ’s Sandwich Shop site

A new mural by a prolific local artist is on display in central Fayetteville.

The new work, located on the building that will soon be home to a TJ’s Sandwich Shop, was painted by local artist Jason Jones.

Jones is the artist behind several well-known works in town, including the Enjoy Local mural on the square, the shop local mural in south Fayetteville, several smaller works on the Fayetteville square, and others.

The new mural depicts a robot, a recurring subject for Jones, holding a flower in one robotic hand, and an triple-scooped ice cream cone in the other.

Jones’ latest creation is visible from Rolling Hills Drive on the north side of the building formerly home to KFC, located at 2992 N. College Ave.

The Golden family, who own TJ’s Sandwich Shop and Mermaid’s Restaurant, recently announced plans to move TJ’s from its original location to the building across the street.

Nicki told us back in the spring that she hopes to be up and running in the new space this month.
