Longhorn Steakhouse changes Fayetteville location in new plans

Longhorn Steakhouse representatives have a new location in mind for the company’s Fayetteville restaurant.

A local engineering firm has submitted new documents on behalf of the steak restaurant chain that show a site improvement plan for a building renovation project at 3467 N. Shiloh Drive.

The company in 2019 identified a potential location at Wedington Drive and I-49, but as we reported yesterday, that lot is now slated for a Walk On’s restaurant.

The new plan for Longhorn Steakhouse shows a plan to use the building currently home to Grub’s Uptown, which is still open for business. It’s one of two Fayetteville locations for Grub’s which also still operates at its original location on West Avenue. We reached out to Grub’s representatives in early June for comment on what the Longhorn news means for the future of Grub’s Uptown. We were referred to the company’s owner Matt Christie, but we haven’t yet received any official comment. We’ll add that info to this post when we know more.

Longhorn Steakhouse was founded in 1981 in Atlanta, Georgia. It was purchased in 2007 by Darden Restaurants, which owns several other brands including Olive Garden and Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen.

The company currently operates one location in northwest Arkansas on Promenade Boulevard in Rogers.

We reached out to Darden Restaurants to ask when the Fayetteville location might open, but a representative said the company cannot comment at this time.

“As Longhorn Steakhouse continues to grow, our real estate teams are constantly looking for sites across the country,” said Brittany Baron, communications manager for Darden. “However, we do not comment on any specific plans until a project has received the necessary approvals.”

The restaurant’s site improvement plan for the Fayetteville location was on last week’s Tech Plat agenda, which means it will next head to the Planning Commission for approval.
