Happy Friday, everyone.
The dog days of summer are setting in a little bit as they always do this time of year. That doesn’t mean there aren’t cool things to do this weekend in Fayetteville, however. Quite the contrary.
One of the biggest kid-events of the year is Saturday at Botanical Garden of the Ozarks. It’s called the Firefly Fling, and this year there are morning sessions for younger kids, and a nighttime session for those who can stay up a little later. The event includes giant bubbles, an obstacle course (morning only), fairy house building, crafts, live music, fireworks, and more. More info about the fun, family event is here, and you can purchase tickets at bgozarks.com.
Also in family fun, TheatreSquared has a family-friendly show playing at Fayetteville Public Library this weekend. The company is performing a musical version of the Roald Dahl classic story Matilda in the library’s brand new performing arts center. Here’s ticket info, showing times, and more.
Saturday mornings in Fayetteville start with the Farmers’ Market on the square. They just do.
There’s music as well. George’s has local legends Earl & Them kicking off the weekend for happy hour. Later on, there’s an electronic show with Dirt Monkey, and another one on Saturday night with Space Wizard and Smoakland.
Looking for a rock show? Kingfish has a couple this weekend on their patio with Stephen Neeper & the Wild Hearts on Friday night and The Rumors and Elephantom on Saturday night.
You could also check out ‘no man band’ Rachel Ammons & CromGrass Friday night at Prairie Street Live.
How about some jokes? Nomad’s Trailside has a comedy show on Saturday with Sondra Slide and local comedian Ray Porter.
