Grub’s Uptown location to close

A local burger joint and gathering place in north Fayetteville will soon close its doors.

Grub’s Bar & Grill officials this week announced that they will close their Uptown location at 3467 N. Shiloh Drive. The last day in business for the restaurant is set for Thursday, July 22.

The news comes after plans surfaced last month for a Longhorn Steakhouse at the same address. A local engineering firm submitted documents on behalf of the steak restaurant chain that showed a site improvement plan for a building renovation project in the building that has been home to Grub’s.

At the time, Darden Restaurants, the company that owns Longhorn Steakhouse, declined to comment on their plans for the building.

“As Longhorn Steakhouse continues to grow, our real estate teams are constantly looking for sites across the country,” said Brittany Baron, communications manager for Darden told us last month. “However, we do not comment on any specific plans until a project has received the necessary approvals.”

Grub’s officials on Thursday said the restaurant could return at a new location in the future.

“While we don’t have a new home for Uptown at the moment, we hopefully will find one soon,” read a statement posted to the restaurant’s Facebook page Wednesday.

The local restaurant chain still operates its original location downtown at 220 N West Ave, as well as a Rogers location at 3001 S Market St.

Grub’s originally opened the Uptown location in February of 2011. Restaurant officials thanked the community for patronizing the establishment over the years.

“A huge thank you to all the customers for your support over the years,” The statement read. “You guys have been amazing. We hope to see you one last time.”
