Weekend Flyer: Avett Brothers, Alanis Morissette, Kessler Mountain Jam, and more

  • By Dustin Bartholomew · Friday, Aug 13, 2021

Happy Friday, everyone.

A supergroup of local musicians will pay tribute to legendary performer Aretha Franklin on Friday night. Locals Divas on Fire will perform a set from the “Queen of Soul” during happy hour at George’s. Later on Friday, 90s tribute band Dial Up will perform. On Saturday night, Little Rock rapper Carson Attaway and Charlotte-based rapper Kevin Powers are on the schedule.

There are a couple big AMP shows this weekend. On Friday night, The Avett Brothers and Robert Earl Keen will take the state, and on Saturday, the venue will host Alanis Morissette, Garbage, and Cat Power.

TheatreSquared has a new show called American Mariachi, and there are several performances to check out this weekend. Here’s more info.

The Kessler Mountain Jam series of mountain bike races is happening on Sunday at Kessler Mountain Regional Park, and part of the festivities include a family-friendly ride on Saturday to tour some local taco shops. It’s called Tour de Tacos. Here’s more about that, and here’s info on the races on Sunday.

How about a comedy show? Nomad’s Trailside has a show on Saturday night featuring comedians Ty Clay and Evan Christian Goldt. It starts around 8:30 p.m.

Up in Bentonville, there’s something called the Bentonville Whiskey Festival at the Peek Museum & Botanical Garden. Here’s more on that.

There’s fun in Springdale this weekend, too. It’s Fireworks Friday at the NWA Naturals game, and Next to Normal is playing all weekend (info here).

Plus, the opening celebration of Factory Obscura is in the downtown Springdale area on Friday night (details), and there’s a Demolition Derby at Parson’s Stadium on Saturday.

There’s plenty more. Have fun, and stay safe, everyone.
