A local retirement community this week announced it will require COVID-19 vaccinations for all its employees as a condition of employment.

Officials with Butterfield Trail Village, located at 1923 E. Joyce Blvd., said all full-time and part-time employees who work for the organization will be required to become fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by Nov. 1 of this year.

Officials said staff has been notified of the new policy, which also requires booster shots or additional vaccines as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control.

Around 400 people live at Butterfield Trail, with most living in a private, independent setting. The campus also offers assisted living, memory care, and long-term nursing support.

“We feel an enormous sense of responsibility to do all we can to protect the health and safety of every one of our residents and staff members,” said company CEO Quintin Trammell. “Many who live at Butterfield have underlying medical conditions, and we know a fully vaccinated staff is the best possible defense we have to fight the Covid-19 virus and its variants within our own walls.”
