A series of (mostly) outdoor shows featuring local and regional artists is returning to Mount Sequoyah just in time for the cooler fall weather.

Officials this week announced the lineup for the Music on the Mountain series of shows, set to begin at Mount Sequoyah later this fall.

The series kicks off with a performance by local songwriter Shannon Wurst on Friday, Oct. 1, with shows running through Nov. 21 on the mountain.

Most of the shows will take place on the gazebo stage in the cottage circle on the Mount Sequoyah campus, though at least one show (local avant garde acts Air Structures and Untight on Nov. 6) will take place inside Clapp Auditorium.

Also on the schedule this fall are performances by Larry Mitchell on Oct. 8, Tim Eriksen on Oct. 9, Rochelle Bradshaw and Crazy Neighbor on Oct. 15, Darren Novotny Jazz Conection on OCt. 22, Effron White on Oct. 23), and Chamber Music on the Mountain on Nov. 21.

Ticket prices to individual events vary. Most performances will begin at around 6:30 p.m.
