Tickets now available for musical tribute honoring Little Rock Nine

Tickets are now available for a musical tribute to the Little Rock Nine, which is set to be performed this month in Fayetteville and Tulsa.

The tribute, called the No Tears Suite, was written by Little Rock jazz pianist Christopher Parker and vocalist Kelley Hurt for the 60th anniversary of the integration of Little Rock’s Central High School.

The two-day series of performances begins in Fayetteville on Sept. 24 at the Fayetteville Public Library. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the concert will begin at 8 p.m.

In the reprisal performance, Parker and Hurt will be joined by Grammy-winning jazz drummer Brian Blade, as well as Jamel Mitchell (tenor saxophone), Roland Guerin (bass), Marc Franklin (trumpet and flugelhorn), and Chad Fowler (baritone and alto saxophone).

Another performance is scheduled in Tulsa at the historic Vernon AME Church. The event will be available for live stream nationwide via fayettevillroots.org.

Tickets to the Fayetteville performance are free, and are available at simpletix.com.
