It’s time for the annual tree giveaway in Fayetteville.

Free trees and shrubs will be available for Fayetteville residents on Saturday, Oct. 23 at the 23rd annual Celebration of Trees event at the Spring Street Parking Deck on the corner of Spring Street and School Avenue.

This year’s event begins at 7 a.m. with a drive-thru-style giveaway to help maintain proper social distance. Participants should wear face coverings and be prepared to show proof of their city residency.

Each resident may receive two plants. Staff and volunteers will load the plants into vehicles. The tree giveaway will continue until supplies are gone.

Participants are encouraged to decide on their preferred species ahead of time to speed up the process.

Species available this year include Paw Paw (very limited quantity), Pecan, Shingle Oak, Willow Oak, Bur Oak, Nuttall Oak, Native Fringe Tree, Rusty Blackhaw, Arrowwood Viburnum, Virginia Sweetspire and Beauty Berry.
