Fayetteville police are investigating gunfire that took place Wednesday evening near 650 Poplar Street behind an apartment complex.
Police said several calls were made shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday to report what sounded like automatic gunfire coming from the Scull Creek Trail area behind the complex. Officers found that bullets had entered an occupied residence, but there were no injuries.

Evidence was collected and the investigation is ongoing, according to an online post from the department.
