Fayetteville plans White Elephant 5K holiday race

A new holiday race is coming to Fayetteville this winter.

The city’s Parks and Recreation Department will host the inaugural White Elephant 5K on Saturday, Dec. 11 on the Fayetteville downtown square.

The road race will be held along the city streets connecting several Fayetteville landmarks such as the square, Old Main lawn, Wilson Park and Dickson Street.

The run-or-walk 5K is open to all ages.

Registration is $25 for adults or $10 for ages 15 and under, and includes an event shirt and a finisher medal. Participants can sign up through Dec. 10 online.

From the department:

This festive 5K race is sure to be jolly — and hilly! Racers will be treated to the Lights of the Ozarks, Santa Claus and carolers, plus some classic “White Elephant” surprises — where you never know what you’re going to get!

Volunteers are needed as the event will take place on an open course and will include several street crossings, an aid station and on-course activities. Anyone who’d like to be involved can check out the details on Givepulse.com, or contact the Parks and Recreation office for more information.

Sponsorship opportunities are also available. For more information on sponsorships, email Tiffany Hoover, assistant recreation superintendent, at [email protected].
