One of the four living ‘Certified Guitar Players’ are coming to Walton Arts Center this fall.
Australia native Tommy Emmanuel is set to perform at the venue at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 15.
The Certified Guitar Player honor was given to Emmanuel by legendary guitarist Chet Atkins, and he and only three others living – John Knowles, Jerry Reed and Steve Warriner – have been bestowed with the title. The late Jerry Redd and paul Yandell are the only other members of this illustrious group.
It’s not just Atkins who has admired his work. Emmanuel is widely considered by many to be among the best acoustic guitar players in the world. He has won two Grammy awards, and has earned four albums certified as Platinum and Gold over his five-decade career.
