Ozark Natural Foods will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a ribbon-cutting celebration for the co-op’s new bike pavilion at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 4.

The co-op teamed up with Modus Studio to design a covered pavilion for people who ride bikes, and those waiting for public transit at the corner of College Avenue and Lafayette Street. The new facility will offer bike racks and seating with charging stations.

The event is open to the public, and will include free slices of chocolate and carrot cake, according to a news release.

The celebration will also mark the kickoff of the Co-Op Commutes program, which provides incentives for shoppers who tell a cashier they arrived to the Co-Op using alternative transportation. Perks include free merchandise such as stickers, reusable bags, sunglasses, snack bars and seltzers, according to the release.

Ozark Natural Foods opened at its new location on College and Lafayette in June 2020 after moving from Evelyn Hills Shopping Center where it operated for 20 years. The co-op purchased the building for $3.6 million from the Hubert Charles Agee, JR Revokable Trust in 2019. The building was previously home to CV’s Family Foods, Saver’s Club, and IGA. Modus Studio was responsible for design of the new space, while Nabholz Construction led the renovation work.
