It was an especially good day for rapper Ice Cube when he performed at the new JJ’s Live venue in Fayetteville last weekend.

That’s because in addition to the sold out crowd that greeted him when he took the stage for his show on Friday, Oct. 1, the artist also was also presented with a key to the city in honor of his first visit to Fayetteville and the state of Arkansas on his current tour.

City Council Member D’Andre Jones presented the award to Ice Cube on stage at the show on behalf of Fayetteville Mayor Lioneld Jordan and the Fayetteville City Council.

“It was a great show, and it was a very exciting moment for Fayetteville and for the state of Arkansas,” Jones told us on Tuesday.

Jones said that he received word that the rapper was also thrilled with the reception, and the surprise presentation of the award.

In addition to the award, Jones also presented the artist with a Razorback t-shirt to commemorate the visit.

Arkansas head basketball coach Eric Musselman also presented Ice Cube with a Razorback basketball jersey at the event.
