The final First Thursday art walk and family festival of the 2021 season will focus on the theme of light.

The event, set for Thursday, Oct. 7 on the Fayetteville square, will include a light installation by John Ostermueller, a ‘slow roll glow ride’ group bike ride/parade around downtown, live music, an art walk, and more.

First Thursday begins at around 5 p.m., where more than 20 local artists and vendors will be set up around the square.

The music will begin shortly after 5 p.m., with performances by DJ Raquel, DJ Suzie Q, local band Modeling, and Emcee Robyn Jordan.

There will be food trucks set up around the square for dinner, and local bars around the square will offer drinks to-go thanks to the city’s Outdoor Refreshment Area. There’s also a First Thursday bar in front of the Fayetteville Town Center.

As part of this month’s event, Bike Fayetteville will lead a Slow Roll Glow Ride beginning at around 6:30 p.m. Attendees can show up between 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to decorate their bike with glow sticks and other decor on the square. Here’s a bit more about the ride.

Art galleries around town, including ArtVentures and Mount Sequoyah Creative Spaces, will host events in concert with the festivities on the square as well, and a new light installation by artist John Ostermueller will be visible when the sun goes down.

Music will run a little longer that usual for this final event, until around 9:30 p.m.
