It’s been more than a year, but soon, Symphony of Northwest Arkansas will return to the Walton Arts Center stage.

After a year of virtual and smaller-scale performances last year due to the pandemic, the full orchestra will be together again for their first show of the 2021-22 season with a show focusing on the work of Mozart and Beethoven on Friday, Nov. 5.

The performance will focus on some of Maestro Paul Haas’ favorite pieces of music, including Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto; Romero’s Fuga con pajarillo; and Beethoven’s Third Symphony, the Eroica.

“Beethoven may be 300 years old, but his Third Symphony is about as fresh, powerful and bracing as the first day of spring,” Haas said. “I’m also thrilled to share the stage with Trevor Stewart, our fantastic principal clarinetist, for Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, and for audiences to experience Romero’s Fuga con pajarillo – it’s a real treat, an undiscovered gem.”

Stewart, SoNA’s Principal Clarinetist, learned to play Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto as a teenager.

“Since this concert marks SoNA’s return to the stage after a year and a half of sacrifice, hardship and the unknown, I want this piece to take the audience on a journey, that guides them through whatever they may be feeling or experiencing that evening, and hopefully ends with feelings of serenity and gratitude,” Stewart said.

The show is one of seven mainstage concerts for SoNA planned this season, including their annual “A Very SoNA Christmas concert on Dec. 11, “The Snowman: A Family Concert” on Dec. 12, and others. A full list of performances planned this season is here.

Proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of performance date is required for the Nov. 5 show, per Walton Arts Center policy. SoNA and Walton Arts Center policy also requires all patrons, staff, and volunteers to wear a mask while inside the facility.

Single tickets to “Mozart and Beethoven” range from $35-$57 for adults, and $11 for students with a valid ID. Children under 18 get free admission with purchase of an adult ticket.

Season subscriptions are also still available.
