A change is coming to the intersection at Lafayette Street and Gregg Avenue in Fayetteville.

City officials said the intersection is set to become an all-way stop. It currently only includes stop signs for north-south traffic on Gregg.

Chris Brown, the city’s director of the public works, said the change is an effort to improve safety in the area.

“The intersection has seen an increase in volume of both traffic violations and accidents, and drivers routinely complain about sight-distance problems,” Brown said.

A news release stated that the change was effective “today” (Nov. 29), but as of 1:30 p.m. there was no permanent new signage in place. Instead, a temporary stop sign had been set up for eastbound traffic on Lafayette. There was no sign for westbound traffic.
