Prescribed burn scheduled at Lake Fayetteville this week

City of Fayetteville

A prescribed burn is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 21 just north of Lake Fayetteville, weather permitting.

The burn will take place at Callie’s Prairie on approximately 26 acres north of the Environmental Study Center located on Lakeview Drive.

Public access along the paved trail near the prairie will be limited while the burn is occurring, according to a news release. Trail users should be prepared to turn around or detour along the natural surface trail.

The burn is part of an effort to restore the natural vegetation at the lake.

Ozark Ecological Restoration Incorporated will conduct the burn. Once complete, crews will assure that all sparks and embers have been fully extinguished, and both the Fayetteville and Springdale fire departments will be notified and on standby status to assist, according to the release.
