Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced that the number of COVID-19 cases reported in Arkansas increased by 7,756 on Tuesday.
Hutchinson announced 25 new deaths, bringing the total number of deaths in the state as a result of the pandemic to 9,358.
Hospitalizations were up by 80 Tuesday, bringing the total number of patients hospitalized in the state to 1,148.
There were 10,719 PCR tests announced Tuesday and 8,466 antigen tests.
There are currently 163 patients in the state on ventilators, up 16 from the day prior.
There are 64,735 cases of COVID-19 considered active in the state, roughly double the amount of active cases announced this time last week. That number includes those that have tested positive by both PCR and antigen testing methods. The state's dashboard currently lists 4,030 active cases in Benton County, and 4,344 active cases in Washington County, though those numbers to not include today's announced cases.
The new cases bring the total cumulative count in Arkansas to 629,825 since the pandemic began.
Top counties for new cases in the state Tuesday included Pulaski (1,529), Benton (552), and Washington (432).
Arkansas is averaging 6,785 new cases per day, or 225 per 100,000 residents over the last two weeks. According to the New York Times COVID-19 tracker, cases in the state are up by 550 percent over the last 14 days.
The state announced that 7,815 additional doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered, bringing the total number of doses given by the state to 3,778,781. The state lists 365,389 as partially immunized, and 1,520,259 individuals as fully immunized.
