Local classic rockers Uncrowned Kings will kick things off at George’s for happy hour Friday night. Later on, Texas-based country bands Pecos and the Rooftops and The Band Laredo will perform.
Roots HQ on the Fayetteville square will host a three-artist bill on Friday night with Bill Frisell Trio, Thomas Morgan and Rudy Royston.
Also in tunes this weekend, locals The Odds will play at Mojo’s Pints & Pies East on Friday night, and David Baxter Band will play Six Twelve Coffeehouse & Bar on Saturday.
Want to hear some jokes? The Grove Comedy Club in Lowell will host two nights of comedy with Joe Zimmerman on Friday and Saturday night.
There’s a dance performance at Mount Sequoyah on Friday night featuring dancer Heidee Alsdorf with a performance titled A Life’s Longing for Itself. The performance is at 7 p.m. inside Mount Sequoyah’s Millar Lodge.
TheatreSquared has a new show this week. The show, called, The Mountaintop, is a reimagination of events the night before the assassination of the civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Here’s more info/ticket deets.
Also in shows, SoNA is back with a performances called Phoenix Ascending on Saturday night at Walton Arts Center featuring pianist/composer Heather Schmidt. Here’s more.
In sports, if you feel like competing you could probably still get in on the Frozen Toes 5K or 15K races on Kessler Mountain Saturday morning. If you feel like watching some other folks compete, the Razorback men’s hoops team takes on Texas A&M at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night at Bud Walton Arena, and the women take on Mississippi State at 3 p.m. at the Bud on Sunday.
