Prescribed burn planned in east Fayetteville Friday

City of Fayetteville

The City of Fayetteville and the Watershed Conservation Resource Center will conduct a prescribed burn near the corner of Dead Horse Mountain Road and East Huntsville Road on Friday, Jan. 28.

City officials said the burn is part of “an adaptive management strategy that works to rehabilitate and maintain native plant species.” The land at the burn site is owned by the city and WCRR, and was purchased to provide water quality improvements and protection of the Beaver Lake Watershed.

The fire will begin at 11 a.m., and will last for about four hours, officials said.

The prescribed burn will be conducted by Ozark Ecological Restorations, Inc., under the supervision of the city and the Watershed Conservation Resource Center. The Fayetteville Fire Department will also be ready to assist if needed.
