Better polish your dancing shoes, and ready your listening ears, everyone. It’s a good weekend for music in Fayetteville.
As always, things kick off at George’s Majestic Lounge for happy hour. This week, local blues dudes the Jeff Horton Band will get things started at George’s. Later on Friday night, there’s a big indie show with Illuminati Hotties, Katy Kirby, and Fenne Lily. On Saturday, they’re getting funky with Rev. Pollard & The Family Holler and locals Monk is King and 1 Oz. Jig, and Sunday they’ve got a local show on Sunday night with Ted Hammig & The Campaign and Green Acres on stage. Ticket info for George’s shows is here.
Ted Hammig and the Campaign are also playing at Nomad’s Trailside on Saturday night along with The Red Cassettes and Mildenhal.
Also in local tunes, The Odds will perform at Mojo’s Pints & Pies East on Friday night.
Roots HQ has a show on Friday night as well, with Irish fiddle player, composer, and performer Andrew Finn Magill. Here’s ticket info.
There’s also music at Walton Arts Center this weekend with jazz by Sullivan Fortner Trio on Friday night, and “folk songs that highlight America’s immigrant roots” on Sunday with American Patchwork Quartet.
JJ’s Live also has a big show this weekend with Athens, Ohio folk act Caamp. Tickets are here.
There are options for comedy this weekend as well, with comedian Rachel Feinstein performing in the Arkansas Union on Friday night, and comedian Greg Warren will perform three shows Friday-Sunday at The Grove Comedy Club in Lowell.
How about sports? The No. 23 ranked Razorback men’s basketball team takes on the No. 16 ranked Tennessee Volunteers at Bud Walton Arena at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Word on the street is there will be some special guests in attendance at the game. Several former players have also confirmed attendance for Saturday’s matchup. It’s a Red Out, FYI.
Also in sports, the Diamond Hogs kick off their season at Baum Walker Stadium with a weekend series versus Illinois State, and the Arkansas women’s basketball team takes on Kentucky on Sunday at 1 p.m.
