The Arkansas Rollerskate Crew will host a Mardi Gras skate parade on Tuesday, March 1 in Fayetteville.

Although the group focuses on promoting roller skating in the area, all wheels are welcome to participate in the parade, including quad skates, inline skates, skateboards and bicycles.

The parade will begin at Walker Park at 4 p.m. and head toward Dickson Street at about 4:45 p.m. before making its way up to the downtown square at around 5:15 p.m., according to a post from Arkansas Rollerskate Crew founder Clementine Simpson.

From the post:

We’ll have goodies and info about skate groups in the area to hand out to people in Fayetteville. And who knows, maybe we’ll inspire some people to start skating!

Simpson formed the group at the height of the pandemic in 2020, and has since grown the organization into a cooperative of skaters with over 200 members who meet regularly for themed skate events.

“Our goal is to grow the roller skate community in Arkansas and bring together all kinds of wheels,” Simpson said on the group’s ongoing fundraiser page.
