Spring cleanups coming up in Fayetteville

Fayetteville will host two volunteer spring cleanup events in the coming weeks.

City officials will host a cleanup at Lake Fayetteville on Saturday, April 16, and an Earth Day cleanup and celebration on Saturday, April 23.

The Lake Fayetteville event on April 16 is in association with the Illinois River Watershed Partnership, and will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Lake Fayetteville Environmental Study Center, located at 511 E. Lakeview Drive. The cleanup will focus on roads, trail, water, and the lake shoreline. Kayaks will also be available. Signup is available here.

The cleanup on April 23 is part of a city-wide effort to commemorate Earth Day. Check in for this event will take place at the Marion Orton Recycling Center, located at 755 W. North Street beginning at 9 a.m. This event will focus on various destinations around the city, including streams, streets, parks, trails, and lakes. Snacks, t-shirts and supplies will be provided.
