We’re pretty sure everything on the list below is an actual event and not some kind of sick April Fools’ joke, but you can never be too careful today, because everyone’s full of lies on April 1. Be vigilant. Stay alert.
For example, the two-day art exhibition featuring artwork atop cake stands at 30 locations around Fayetteville this weekend seems suspect. It’s called 2022 Cake Stand Biennale, and is a joint project organized by local artists Juliette Walker and Meredith Tinkle, both students at the University of Arkansas. It will supposedly feature work by over 50 artists whose work will be displayed on cake stand galleries at participating businesses and landmarks around Fayetteville. Here’s more info. We’re pretty sure this is real.
We’re also pretty sure that the Diamond Hogs will take on SEC West foe Mississippi State in a three-game series at Baum Walker Stadium this weekend too, and the only thing funny about this we can think of is that Mississippi State’s whole team has to live in Starkville, which is really more sad than funny, so never mind.
Speaking of jokes, comedian Steve Hynter who played Kenny Bania on Seinfeld years ago, will be performing at the Grove Comedy Club in Lowell this weekend.
Also in jokes, we’ve heard that TheatreSquared’s comedy Tiger Style! is hilarious, and there are plenty of opportunities to see that this weekend as well.
Songwriter Willi Carlisle has some pretty funny songs, and he’ll be performing along with Tony Kamel at George’s for happy hour on Friday night. Later on, Ozark Riviera and Ouachita Dune will play the late night show Friday night, and there’s a dance party with SoDown and Super Future on Saturday night.
Probably the most famous cowbell player in all of the world will be performing in Fayetteville this weekend, when classic rockers Blue Oyster Cult perform at JJ’s live on Saturday night.
There’s a huge show at Walton Arts Center as Hamilton finishes up its two-week run of shows there. Hopefully everyone who wanted to got to see that one, or will be seeing it this weekend.
SoNA will perform a collaborative poetry and music show with the Open Mouth Literary Center at the Fayetteville Public Library we told you about recently on Saturday. It’s called SoNA Beyond – Transcending Words.
After a couple test runs the last few weeks, the Fayetteville Farmers’ Market officially kicks off the season on the square on Saturday. Here’s more about that.
Up north, Scottish composer/performer Anna Meredith will perform at The Rode House stage inside the Momentary.
There’s a drag show at the UA on Friday. There’s a drag show at the Town Center on Saturday. There’s opera at the UA on Saturday.
There’s even more below. Have a great weekend, everyone. Don’t get pranked.
