FAYETTEVILLE — The 2022 Joe Martin Stage Race will include a fat tire criterium for kids on Saturday, May 21.

A criterium is a bike race where riders ride multiple laps on a closed course. The number of laps will be determined by the age of the riders.

“Fat tire” essentially means a mountain bike, so all participants must ride bikes with flat handlebars and tires that are at least 1.4 inches wide.

The event is part of the OZ Trails Kids Crit series, which also includes upcoming races in Springdale and Bentonville. The series is a partnership between Bike School Bentonville, Ozark Outdoor Foundation and OZ Trails.

Races are open to kids ages 2-11, with individual categories for different ages, including a balance bike division for the youngest participants.

The events start at 10 a.m. near the Joe Martin Stage Race finish line across from Baum-Walker Stadium on Razorback Road in Fayetteville.

Registration is $20 per rider, and is available online at BikeSignUp.com.
