BREWGRASS CANCELLED: Weekend Flyer: Brewgrass festival, UA commencement, Fiddler on the Roof, Eli Young Band, and more

Happy Friday, everyone. It’s graduation weekend, which means you definitely need a reservation. Trust us.

Local party band Ultra Suede will kick things off for Happy Hour at George’s Friday night, as they’ve done a whole lot of times over the years. Later on, Eli Young Band is in town for a show Friday night, and on Saturday, you can check out locals Honeyjack at the venue. Here’s ticket info for the George’s shows.

How about some baseball? The OmaHogs will take on the No. 24 ranked Vanderbilt Commodores for their final home series of the season. Well, not counting the regionals and super-regionals of the College World Series, if the Hogs are fortunate enough to host those games. Here’s a preview of the series.

Walton Arts Center has several performances of Fiddler on the Roof you could check out this weekend. Their Artosphere festival is also underway, including a film screening of Children of the Sea at Mount Sequoyah on Friday night. It’s free. Here’s more.

Y’all wanna race? The annual Cow Paddy Run is happening Saturday morning at Gulley Park. Proceeds from the race benefit the Fayetteville Public Education Foundation. Here’s more.

How about a crawfish boil? The Fayetteville Firefighters Association will host their annual crawfish boil at Prairie Street Live on Saturday. There will be music by Jumpsuit Jamie, a cornhole tourney, and of course, plenty of mudbugs to enjoy. It starts at 11 a.m. More info is right here.

Up in Rogers, there are a couple big shows this weekend, with Whiskey Myers, Shane Smith & the Saints, and Goodbye June at the Walmart AMP, and locals Smokey and the Mirror (Friday) and Arkansasauce (Saturday) will play Railyard Live downtown.

Also in local tunes, local favs Vintage Pistol are back in action for a Saturday night show in the backyard at Kingfish. Also of note, the Carrie Nation and the Speakeasy show originally scheduled for Smoke & Barrel Saturday night has been cancelled due to a quarantine situation among the band.

On Sunday, the annual Brewgrass festival celebrating local brews and bluegrass music will take place on the Fayetteville square. This year’s event will include performances by locals Front Porch, Jess Harp (read our recent interview with Jess here), and Rachel Ammons, along with brews from local brewery Fossil Cove, CBD cocktails from Buffalo Brothers, food trucks, kids activities, bingo, local arts and crafts, and more. Here’s more info. Update: Due to the threat of storms Sunday afternoon, Arkansas Brewgrass festival has been cancelled.

Have a great weekend, everyone. Have fun. Be safe.
