FAYETTEVILLE — The intersection of Markham Road and Palmer Avenue is set to become an all-way stop.

The change is scheduled to take place this week (May 16), according to Terry Gulley, the city’s director of transportation services.

Gulley said the decision to change the intersection was made because of limited sight distance and public safety, as well as speed and increased traffic volumes in the area.

New signs are set to be added for both eastbound and westbound traffic on Markham Road. The intersection previously only included a stop sign for traffic turning onto Markham from Palmer.
