Joe Martin Stage Race / File photo
One of the longest continually held cycling races in the country is happening in Fayetteville this weekend.
Of course, we’re talking about the Joe Martin Stage Race, which will bring cyclists to town from all over the world over for a weekend of racing. The best opportunity to watch the races will come on Sunday, when the criterium races zip around the 1.2 mile course through downtown Fayetteville. Also on Sunday, a mini-music festival will take place in the Walton Arts Center lot on Dickson Street featuring food trucks, a beer garden, and live music by Here Come the Mummies, Boom Kinetic, and DJ Raquel. Here’s info on how to watch the Joe Martin Stage Race, and here’s a bit more info about the concert on Sunday.
Also in big music festivals, up the road in Bentonville is the second ever FreshGrass festival at The Momentary. The event will include performances by headliners Emmylou Harris & The Red Dirt Boys and Sam Bush on Friday night, and Hayes Carll, The Jerry Douglas Band, Margo Price, and Amos Lee on Saturday. Here’s the full stage schedule and more info.
JJ’s Live has a big show in Fayetteville on Saturday night with 90s rockers, Collective Soul. Here’s ticket info.
The Walmart AMP also has a show this weekend with For King and Country on Saturday night. Ticket details for that one are here.
There’s some good local music this weekend as well. Longtime locals Flipoff Pirates will celebrate the release of their new album Bones of the Past at a release show Saturday night. They’ll be joined on the bill by their friends Monk is King, Mildenhall, Rachel Amons and Patti Steel. Here’s an interview with the band from earlier this week. George’s will kick off their weekend with local favorites, Full House on Friday night for happy hour, followed by a metal show with Open Addiction, Leona Theody, and Trelos later on on Friday night. Here are tickets to George’s shows.
Also in local tunes, indie country artist Dylan Earl will play Smoke & Barrel Tavern on Friday night with Katherine Legendre and Dollar Country.
Prairie Street Live has a cool local show on Saturday night with Dandelion Heart, Melody Pond and Foxpaw. Here’s a bit more about that.
There’s a ton more below. Have a great weekend, everyone.
