The 2022 Joe Martin Stage Race ended Sunday evening after four days of bike racing in and around Fayetteville.

Sunday is easily the most exciting day to take in the event, as both professional riders and amateurs compete in criterium (or crit) races featuring multiple loops around downtown Fayetteville.

The crits began at 8 a.m. and lasted until about 5:30 p.m. Aside from the races, the day included free kids races near the square and live music on Dickson Street with Here Come the Mummies, Boom Kinetic and DJ Raquel.

The finishes of the pro crits were especially exciting as both races ended in near-photo finishes.

In the pro women’s field, DNA Pro Cycling’s Maggie Coles-Lyster edged out L39ion of Los Angeles’ Skylar Schneider at the line, while Best Buddies Racing’s Bryan Gomez overtook L39ion of Los Angeles’ Tyler Williams with a thrilling last-second bike throw in the men’s race.

EF Education-Tibco-SVB’s Emma Langley won the overall 4-day stage race in the women’s field, and Wildlife Generation’s Jonny Clarke took the overall general classification in the men’s field.
